Application for Scholars to Request Vital Statistics Data for Research Supporting Public Health
On this page you will find information about requesting access to Florida Vital Statistics data. Each application is judged on its scientific merit, methodology, data security procedures, benefit to the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and the public, and consistency with epidemiologic research goals of Florida Statute 381.0032. Requests for confidential data will only be granted in cases where the project meets the aforementioned criteria and no other practical means of completing the project exists.

500 Cities: Local data for better health
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have mapped 27 chronic disease measures for 33 of the largest cites in Florida. The measures relate to 5 unhealthy behaviors, 13 health outcomes, and 9 prevention practices. The primary data sources for this project are the CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, the Census 2010 population, and the American Community Survey estimates.
